Introduction

Society for Social Service (SSS) emerged under the auspices of a group of progressive, like-minded, energetic and committed development activists in November 1986 in order to improve socio-economic condition of the poor as well as establish justice and peace in the society.

Legal Status

SSS obtained its registration from the Social Welfare Directorate of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The registration No. is T-0213, dated 02-02-87. Later, it was registered under NGO Affairs Bureau vide registration No. 345, dated 30-01-90. SSS was registered under Microcredit Regulatory Authority vide registration No. 00645-01002-00025, dated 5 September, 2007.

 

Microcredit Activities

In 1991 SSS started to implement microcredit program. The program expanded to its entire working area. The activities under credit program include: Group Formation, Savings Activities, Insurance Activities, Jagaran (Rural and Urban) Microcredit Program, Buniad (UP and PRIME) Credit Activities, Housing Loan Project, Sufalan (Seasonal and Agricultural) Microcredit Program, Agrasar (Micro Entrepreneur) Credit Program, Safe Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Project, Sahas (Disaster Management) Loan, ENRICH Program, and Remittance Transfer etc.
